ARIZONA LODGE #1 Arizona Odd Fellow Lodge #1 was instituted in Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona Territory on the 13th day of July, 1868. Prescott, Arizona was founded in 1864 at the behest of Congress and President Abraham Lincoln in an effort to secure the area's mineral riches for the Union forces during the Civil War, the town was named for historian William Hickling Prescott by the settlers and became the first capital of the territory. In 1887 Edward J. Cook met with 5 other men who were also Odd Fellows and decided they needed a lodge of their own in Prescott. Cook volunteered to make the long trip from Prescott to San Francisco to the Grand Lodge of California to apply for a charter. Imagine the long journey across the desert, no roads or trails and in the desert heat by stage, horse and foot. Arizona #1 was the first odd fellow lodge in the territory. After meeting in several buildings in 1902 they broke ground on their own
building and established the Odd Fellow Cemetery. Today they have sold the old building and
moved to 8690 E.Loos Drive, Prescott Valley. Meetings are the 2nd 4th
Tuesday at 6:30pm of each month. Dark for July and August. Here is a link to their Facebook page.
